YME Construction Updates

 

Yellow Medicine East School District is moving forward with transformative improvements to our school facilities following strong voter approval of the $74.395 million bond referendum in August 2025. With 70% community support, this investment reflects a shared commitment to providing safe, modern, and inspiring learning environments for our students.

This website will serve as a central hub for construction updates, progress reports, timelines, and key milestones throughout the project. We are grateful for the trust placed in our district and look forward to keeping our community informed every step of the way.

🚧 BUILDING ACCESS & ENTRANCE INFORMATION 🚧

As construction continues on the YME campus, parking, drop-off, and traffic patterns will continue to change throughout the school year. Morning bus drop-off is located at the Main Gym entrance; this area is for buses only, with no parent drop-offs. Bert Raney student drop-off will remain along 7th Avenue, while MS/HS student drop-off and visitor parking will remain along 9th Avenue in front of the school. Afternoon bus loading will temporarily take place along 9th Avenue in front of Volstad Field.

Parking is available in the new parking lot, East parking lot, along the south side of 9th Avenue, KCC parking lot, designated areas on 4th Street, and permitted residential streets. The west parking lot at Granite Falls Lutheran Church may also be used. Please remember that the AG area west of the 1930 building is staff parking only, there is no parking on Kilowatt Drive, and courthouse parking lots are reserved for courthouse customers.

Please follow all posted signs, cones, and barricades, drive slowly, and be courteous when navigating campus. This plan will remain fluid as construction progresses, and we greatly appreciate the patience, flexibility, and cooperation of our YME families and community.
